Willpower

Performance Fitness - i.e. my gymMy sister and I had an interesting conversation about willpower. Apparently there have been studies done that determined that each person individually has a set amount of willpower for the day. It varies from person to person.

Anyway. The study said once you use up your willpower for the day it’s actually gone and that’s why people tend to have issues with doing willpower related things in the afternoon, evening and night because their willpower is gone.

Now, when my sister told me this I was wary and said that that couldn’t be true since I almost never have a problem with willpower (i.e. why my husband—loving—calls me a robot). My sister said that it’s actually probably because I have a larger amount of willpower initial then most people or because I don’t need to use as much willpower as others.

Anyway (again). It just got me thinking about this community and how hard I see people struggling sometimes. And made me realize that if it’s a science thing, then made it would make life less frustrating.

Not that we should just give into things all the time, but when we have willpower let downs, maybe it’s just cause our willpower tank is on empty.

Just a thought.
